: A two-judge panel of the Telangana High Court on Thursday sentenced three persons to undergo life imprisonment for the murder of five persons in Amberpet. The panel of Justice K. Lakshman and Justice Sreedevi allowed a state appeal against the acquittal.

The 1st additional metropolitan sessions judge, Hyderabad, had in February 2012 acquitted all the accused. It was a case that Syed Jehangir and eight others had committed the murder of the wife of accused no.1 Syed Jehangir, her parents and two brothers.

Earlier the panel had required the three persons to be present in court, to hear them on the quantum of punishment. The marriage between the accused and his wife was solemnised in 2008 but soon disputes arose and multiple cases, including dowry prohibition and maintenance, were filed.
