JEOPARDY! champ Drew Basile survived another day on the game show while Ken Jennings had some fun at his expense. Drew , 23, the first contestant to have also been on Survivor , went on to nab a big sixth win in a runaway- impressing even his skeptics. The Michigan-born graduate student returned on Wednesday, June 26, after punching a Tournament of Champions ticket in the last episode.
He faced Maryl Harris, a study operations manager from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Natalie Milano, a manufacturing engineering manager from Portland, Maine. In the Jeopardy! round, Ken, 50 , singled out Drew after a response he got correct. The $1000 "Hats On" video clue was selected and the screen displayed a bunch of gentlemen in hats.
The clue read, "You wear this Scottish cap anywhere, not just to a David Mamet play about real estate salesmen." Natalie incorrectly responded, "Tam," and Drew buzzed in correctly with "Glen Garry." Ken ruled he was right and added, "You didn't sound sure; maybe you knew more about the play than the hat? Is that right?" Drew sheepishly pointed back at Ken with a nervous laugh, implying this was the case.
By the end of the round, Drew narrowly led with $5,000, while Natalie had $2,200, and Maryl (getting the first Daily Double) $4,800. Double Jeopardy! was all Drew as he aced both Daily Doubles for $3000 a piece in his first runaway since defeating Adriana Harmeyer. He boasted $20,200, with Maryl just barely out of contention at 10,000 for Maryl and Natalie .
