Kate Beckinsale has revealed that she landed in the hospital for a gruelling six-week stay due to health complications. The Underworld star's health issues were thought to be brought on by intense stress and grief following the sudden death of her stepfather. The renowned British actress, who is widely recognised for portraying vampire Selene in the Underworld franchise, had been combating undisclosed health problems in recent times.

In March, Beckinsale posted and then deleted several pictures from what appeared to be her hospital bed on social media, however, she refrained from revealing why she was admitted into medical care. She alluded to her health struggles again in April, when she shared images of herself donning a "tummy troubles survivor" T-shirt, seemingly clicked inside a hospital. Addressing her critics via an Instagram video post, the 50-year-old stunner responded defiantly to a comment suggesting her to "do some squats".



"I watched my stepfather die quite shockingly, my mother has stage 4 cancer, and I lost a lot of weight from stress and grief, quite quickly and then I was in hospital for six weeks because the grief had burned a hole in my oesophagus which made me vomit copious amounts of blood, and I found eating very hard," she opened up about her ordeal. Beckinsale also confessed that just before her hospitalization, she had diligently worked on a movie project which involuntarily triggered memories of her father's passing.
