According to multiple latest reports, famed director and producer Karan Johar has moved the Bombay High Court against the makers of an upcoming Hindi movie titled . As per Karan Johar, the makers of the upcoming Hindi movie have unlawfully used his name in the title. In his plea, Karan Johar has sought a permanent injunction and restraining order against the movie’s producers, IndiaPride Advisory and Sanjay Singh, and writer-director Bablu Singh, from using his name in the title.
The reports also state that Karan Johar’s suit was mentioned before a single bench of Justice RI Chagla on Wednesday (12 June 2024). The court said it would hear the plea on Thursday (13 June 2024). The movie is slated for release on Friday, 14 June 2024.
The director insisted that he had no relation with the film or its makers, and maintained the latter were unlawfully using his name in the movie’s title. In the suit, Karan Johar said that the movie’s title made a direct reference to his name, thus violating his personality rights, and his right to privacy. In the suit, Karan Johar further noted that, by using his brand name unauthorisedly, the film’s makers were utilizing his goodwill and reputation without any permission.
Karan Joahr strongly underscored that unauthorized use of his name was causing irreparable loss and damage to his reputation. As mentioned, is directed by a man named Bablu Singh, and stars Aman Singh Deep, Parthaa Akerkar, Monika Rathore, Amit Lekhwani, Abhishek Khanna.
