Dancehall artiste Johnny Time, a former member of the Timeless dancers, is ecstatic at the buzz surrounding his latest project, ' Fast Cash' . "The response has been amazing so far. It's been played a lot in the clubs since its release.
It was also released with a music video on VEVO," the former dancer-turned-deejay said. The song is part of the 'Vaxxine' rhythm project, featuring heavyweight acts like Bugle and Sean Paul. The Timeless dancers were known for dance moves like 'Gangster Rock' and 'To the World', the latter immortalised by track legend Usain Bolt during his famous record-setting performances at the Beijing Olympics.
Johnny Time, given name Oran Barriffe, was born in St Mary, moving to live with his grandmother in Dam Head, St Catherine, when he was only one year old. "I fell in love with 'World Dance', one of my favourite dance moves which was created by [dancer] Bogle. Every birthday party or Christmas treat, I'd love to just showcase my moves.
Every dance move came about, I would catch them," he said. But tragedy struck when he lost his mother at age 13. "I felt like all was lost.
She was the backbone, not just for her children, but the community. Her death shook the whole community," he said. Once he left high school, he teamed up with Taz Timeless from Dam Head.
"He saw me and said to me, 'Yow youth, yuh bad, enuh.' That's when I became Timeless; all I knew is that I loved dancing and I'm going to have fun, and we just take over," he said..
