Joe Alwyn has addressed being the subject of commentary on social media in the wake of his break-up from Taylor Swift and the subsequent release of her latest album. The actor, 33, is understood to have previously been in a relationship with the singer-songwriter, 34, for more than six years. The former couple however are said to have split up last year, with them both believed to have since moved on.

It's been speculated that Taylor references her ex-partner on her latest album, the Tortured Poets Department, which topped the charts upon its release in April. It's rumoured that he inspired a few songs on the album, with some fans believing that he's negatively alluded to in lyrics by the artist. Following the album's release two months ago, Joe is said to have faced "abuse" and attention on social media amid the speculation.



He has now addressed being the focus of such attention, with him suggesting that he tries to ignore it. Sharing his thoughts, as reported by Hello! magazine , he told the Sunday Times Style magazine in an interview: "I try and dial that volume down. I was obviously made aware of it and think that mistreating anyone, whether it's in person or behind the anonymity of a keyboard, is shameful.

" According to People magazine, he further stated that he has a network of "brilliant, authentic people" in his life. He's said to have added that he tries to "live in reality" and stay away from "online noise" on social media, with him telling the outlet that he tries .
