This Morning hosts discuss Clarkson's Clause Jeremy Clarkson has been very vocal about the plight facing farmers these days - especially those who are not as financially successful as him. Although the Clarkson's Farm star has numerous income routes, from his Amazon Prime show to his lucrative newspaper columns and TV presenting gigs, not everyone has been as fortunate - and red tape has been strangling the livelihoods of some. After Jeremy was refused planning permission to convert an old lambing barn into a restaurant, there was talk of introducing a Clarkson's Clause - and This Morning stars Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard celebrated today after learning it had come into effect.

The law change means that disused farm buildings can now be converted into eateries and shops without any planning permission required. Jeremy admitted he originally set up the restaurant knowing permission would be refused, so that he could create a compelling storyline, it has inspired change that will benefit farmers everywhere. They have also been told that they now have the right to create outdoor sporting areas and training centres without any additional red tape.



Cat spoke appreciatively of the positive impact the law would have on children who are keen to learn more about farms and where food comes from. Meanwhile, Ben discussed his friends who are farmers and praised that the law would stamp out "needless bureaucracy". "The farming minister Mark Spencer has said it would cut needless bureaucra.
