JEOPARDY! fans are feeling shortchanged about the format for the show's Masters finale, which airs on Wednesday, May 20, on ABC. Unlike previous rounds, the finale is one night only, and fans aren't convinced the best player will win the $500,000 prize pot. Jeopardy! Masters has taken the month of May by storm, and after eight episodes and 14 matches, the finalists have emerged.

Victoria Groce , Yogesh Raut , and reigning champ James Holzhauer will duke it out in a one-night-only smackdown. Like the semis, the finale will see the standings once more wiped clean for a level playing field. But unlike previous rounds, they will compete over just one episode in a two-game total-point affair.



That means whoever scores the highest on Wednesday alone will be named the new Masters champion. Also, the point system is being ditched, and the Masters finale will be determined by the highest combined score of the two matches. That means the winner may not even win either game but could just boast the highest total.

And finally, every other round of Masters was longer - even the semis were four matches - instead of just one episode of two matches. Fans took to Reddit excited to see the mega quizzers battle it out, but wishing more emphasis were put on the final three. One fan began a thread, "What is it with the 2-game total point affair? Does anyone like this format? I personally really don’t like it.
