Jay Slater's frantic parents have revealed what they 'believe' may have happened to the missing teenager 10 days after he went missing in Tenerife. The Oswaldtwistle lad, 19, vanished in the early hours of Monday, June 17, 2024, after flying to the Spanish island to attend a three-day rave festival. His parents have now jetted out to help the search effort, putting up missing posters around the town of Santiago del Teide where his mobile phone was last traced.
ITV journalist Isla Traquair has also joined the many news outlets covering the ongoing story, and spent some time with Jay's parents who said they are in a 'living hell.' Jay's parents have recently been targeted by harsh criticism as well as unfounded theories questioning their integrity as the family have opened a GoFundMe campaign , raising a total of £36,505 as of this Thursday, June 27. Jay's mother Debbie has since confirmed the funds are being withdrawn , explaining that the money will be used to cover food expenses and accommodation during the family's stay in Tenerife as more people may be called to fly over to help the search for Jay.
"Jay's family are all out in Tenerife and I have been speaking to his mother Debbie and his father Warren", Isla said, "they are obviously extremely distressed. What's made this worse, as we've discussed, is all the speculation online." Warren and Debbie also have their own theory around Jay's disappearance, Isla revealed: "they do believe there's a possibility he could have be.
