One newsreader has quit the flagship channel after 21 years on-screen. Broadcaster Sascha Williams announced her exit from News on Wednesday (July 10) as her final show came to an end. She told fans: “It’s been one heck of a ride” as she looked back on her time with the channel.
Taking to Instagram, the 44-year-old shared a montage of snaps across her career. She captioned the emotional post: “After 21 years (and by the look of it, about as many hairstyles) it’s time to bid farewell to ITV. “It’s been one heck of a ride, working some of the best in the business.
” It was at this point that the star shared one thing she won’t miss about working for the news channel. She added: “Will miss them lots (though probably not the 4am alarm)” alongside the hashtags “last day” and “new adventures.” The broadcaster began her career at ITV Anglia, working on ITV News Anglia as a production journalist in 2003.
Three years later she was promoted to an on-screen reporter and presenter. In 2009, the star went on to become a freelance broadcaster, and was often seen on Daybreak, ITV News and ITV News London. Sascha quickly became a well-known face on national ITV News at 5.
30pm. But the star didn’t stop there as she moved on to become a newsreader for ITV News London which airs on . She soon became a permanent member of staff at ITV News in 2013.
