Election 2024: Angela Rayner says sorry as she grabs an umbrella for the rain Angela Rayner was forced to apologise as she brought ITV 's coverage of the General Election to a sudden halt. Tom Bradby, who anchored election nights in 2015, 2017 and 2019, was joined by George Osborne, Nicola Sturgeon and Ed Balls to deliver the 2024 results to viewers. During the programme, Bradby spoke to Deputy Leader of the Labour Party Rayner, who was live from Manchester.

With Labour on track to win 410 seats and the Conservatives just 131, the 44-year-old is looking ahead to a Labour government. Rayner said: "Hopefully we can go forward now and turn the page on the chaos and the decline that we've seen under the Conservatives and have that programme for growth." Just as the politician finished speaking, she was forced to take action as it began pouring in Manchester.
