Roy Cropper, who has been struggling to adjust to life after his prison ordeal , is seen leaving the cafe to deliver homemade soup to Shona Platt when he is accosted by a group of thugs who hurl insults at him, causing him to fall.
Carla Connor rushes to help him, but it's clear he's in pain. Later on the ITV soap, when Shona confesses that she wasn't really sick and had only pretended to be ill to lure him back to the cafe, Roy sends her and Evelyn Plummer away. Just moments later, while Shona is outside explaining the situation to Nina Lucas, an ambulance pulls up and they rush to the cafe where Roy is receiving CPR.
