Coronation Street viewers were left stunned on Wednesday as they recognised newcomer Roscoe star Warren Donnelly. The character walked into Roy Cropper's prison cell during Wednesday's episode, claiming to be on his side. Amid Roy being banged up for Lauren Bolton's murder despite being innocent, he's kept to himself and hidden away in his cell.
On Wednesday newcomer Roscoe made his presence known, leaving Roy in fear as he ordered him to leave. But Roscoe claimed they had a mutual friend and that he was there to be an ally of his, at the request of someone else. Roscoe told Roy that he was an old friend of Roy's neighbour Stu Carpenter, and Stu had asked him to look out for Roy in prison.
Roy was touched by this and passed on his thanks to Stu, with Stu confirming Roscoe's story was correct. Soap watchers were left distracted during the scenes as they instantly recognised Roscoe star Warren Donnelly from Shameless. The actor played Stan Waterman on the series from 2004 until 2010.
Warren has also appeared in the likes of Moving On in 2011, Holby City, Cold Feet and Doctors. Warren will be joining former co-star, Sally Carman , who plays Abi Webster, on the cobbles as she played Kelly Maguire in Shameless. Other Shameless stars in Corrie include Ciarán Griffiths, who played Damon Hay and left the cobbles earlier this year.
