Despite this, many still generously invite their loved ones without charging anything. To overcome extravagant prices, some may ask guests to bring a bottle, dessert or side dishes. But one woman recently caused a stir by charging her relatives to attend.



And it didn't come cheap either – as she asked her own sister to fork out £200 for the meal. The disgruntled sister took to social media to ask for advice on the awkward situation. She explained she had to drive for "six hours" to visit her sibling and her family.

She expected to chip in for the food costs – because her sibling spent all weekend "talking about inflation" – but never expected to be charged so much. The lass did cough up though – as she didn't see the point in "fighting" over money. The woman also explained her sister has a "large family of six kids who eat much more" than any of her own children do.

To make matters worse, she'd already paid for six-hours worth of petrol and brought her own food to the occasion. Her post continues: "I actually did a grocery run before arriving at her house so we wouldn't be.
