ALL You Need Is Grub when you turn 82, just ask Paul McCartney. The Beatles legend shunned a big celebrity birthday bash and instead headed for a low-key dinner at a posh restaurant. Insiders told me how Paul was joined by his wife Nancy and his five children at the 17th century Boys Hall hotel in Ashford, Kent, and shocked other guests who spotted them.
A source said: “Paul and his family booked a private room. “They were quietly ushered in on Tuesday night and were taken to the Drawing Room, where the chefs cooked a three-course feast for them. "It was super low-key, just Paul and his closest family members.
He looked really happy and seemed to be enjoying a quieter celebration. They left just after 10.30pm.
” Given he’s approaching the big 9-0, I can’t blame Paul for wanting a more muted celebration. But he still does love a good party. I remember at Glastonbury two years ago, after he became the festival’s oldest solo headliner, he threw a massive bash afterwards and was still going strong at 3am.
As well as his daughters Stella and Mary, Paul had stars including actors Woody Harrelson and Kate Hudson plus supermodel Kate Moss backstage with him. An onlooker told me at the time: “Paul was on a massive high and he had a party backstage. It was like a who’s who of the celebs at Worthy Farm.
And Paul was one of the last men standing.” I’m much more likely to be the first to hit the hay – and I’m five decades younger. Bravo , Paul.
