DANNY O'Donoghue has opened up about his year from hell after his best pal and bandmate Mark Sheehan's shock death. The Script stars were best friends since they were 12 years of age and were making music together since. But the band were heartbroken when Mark passed away in April last year from an illness, aged just 46.

In a statement after Mark's passing, the rock group said: "Much loved husband, father, brother, band mate and friend Mark Sheehan passed away today in hospital after a brief illness. The family and group ask fans to respect their privacy at this tragic time." Mark was co-founder of The Script back in 2001, but worked in music for years before with best pal Danny .

The pair were originally part of boy band Mytown, which formed back in 1996. They later recruited drummer Glen Power, who had played since he was eight, for their new band The Script. The Irish band are bringing out a brand new album, Satellite's, which will be their first release since the death of their beloved pal and band member.

Speaking on Lorraine yesterday, frontman Danny talked about the band moving on with music with their new album and how Mark’s death affected them and their sound. Danny said: "It’s just trying to be a bit more uplifting. We feel that after the year that we had last year, we could do with a bit of positivity.

I went off the rails after Mark passed away like everybody does. "I was out drinking, smoking, everything and I went on a mental block - I had a writer's block .
