40 years ago, music was changed forever with a music video - but so was the . released his video for his song Dancing in the Dark in 1984. He was already an established icon in the rock and roll world, famous for songs like Born to Run and Hungry Heart.

In the video, Bruce sings for an adoring crowd wearing a white button up shirt and trademark blue jeans. About two and a half minutes into the video, Bruce spots The adoring fan cheers and dances before being pulled on stage by Bruce. The two dance together on stage, smiling and laughing as the camera pans out and the video ends.



But there's something special about that fan who was completely unknown in Hollywood at that time. That fan was the iconic . The eventual Friends star decided to audition for the role when she found out it was an opportunity to dance with him.

She shared in a recent interview how the audition went. "I went into on Brian De Palma’s office," she explained, "He put on the music and said, 'Well, you dance.' And I thought, 'Right now? Here? In front of you? Just the two of us?'" She credits her shock as being part of the reason she got the role.

"I think that’s what they wanted, a fan that just couldn’t believe it," Courteney added. The music video was filmed in St. Paul, Minnesota at the first show of Bruce's Born in the USA tour.

The singer was told to pick a fan out of the crowd during filming, not knowing Courteney was in the audience as a plant. After appearing in the music video, Courteney gues.
