Chris Kamara fans rushed to share their support for the 'national treasure' after he appeared on This Morning on Monday morning to discuss his apraxia battle. After suffering from speech apraxia since 2021, football pundit Chris struggled with slurred speech, balance and his ability to walk. After chatting with Kate Garraway , who recently lost her husband, Derek Draper , Chris tried out an experimental treatment in Brazil - a procedure which Derek tried as his speech was also affected.
Back in February, he revealed he was on his way to a full recovery thanks to her. On Monday, hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley excitedly introduced the 66-year-old pundit onto the programme and asked him how he's been doing. Chris told the hosts: "I’m doing great.
I’ve got everything back from the speed in my voice. I’ve got the fluency so the brain when you wanna talk, it’s not interrupted anymore. It’s fluent.
"If you haven’t met me before you would think I always talk like this but as [Ben] knows I speak at 300 miles an hour." Ben went on to fill in viewers who weren't aware of Chris having apraxia, which is a disorder of the brain and nervous system in which a person is unable to perform tasks or movements. Chris revealed: "It’s dyspraxia as well.
I find it difficult now to walk down the stairs without holding the handle and various other things. That’s alright but I’m quite happy with that. I can get back with that, there’s always someone worse off than you.
I’m fine.
