Before Virginie Viard bowed out of Chanel , her enchanting fall 2024 show , presented at the Grand Palais Éphémère in Paris, took guests on a spiritual journey to Deauville, the resort town in Normandy where Coco Chanel once ran a boutique. Vogue ’s Tonne Goodman and photographer Malick Bodian went directly to the source to shoot the collection, capturing models Lulu Tenney and Angelina Kendall on Deauville’s shimmering seashore in clothes both coolly classic and utterly fantastic. SKIRTING THE ISSUE The drama! Kendall kicks up her heels—and her hemline—in a reversible silk-satin dress.

JUST FACE IT Life is but a dream for Tenney in a creamy, tweedy dress that looks (and feels) rather more like a cozy knit. ON THE ROPES Actor Abraham Wapler—who next appears in Cédric Klapisch’s La Venue de l’Avenir, due out in early 2025—basks in breezy Breton stripes. GOING WIDE Tenney wears a belted jacket and trousers in cashmere tweed; Kendall’s are cashmere and silk.

HOLDING PATTERNS The pair steal off in printed silk-muslin dresses. THE LONG GOODBYE Gauzy dresses and big hats—just the thing for languid summer days. In this story: hair, Odile Gilbert; makeup, Gregoris Pyrpylis.
