A NOVICE lawncare fan has shared the plan that took their first lawn from weed-infested to pristine. Though they'd never cared for a lawn before, their eight-step plan worked wonders. Redditor Pk613 shared the gardening tips in a viral post.

The Canadian homeowner explained that when they moved into their home a few years ago, their lawn was in tatters. Not only that, but they also had to deal with animals taking over their lawn. "I’ve had my battles since with grub infestations and raccoons ripping up the lawn and all sorts of weeds," they said.



"Here in Canada, we don’t get the good stuff for our lawns, so that has been a challenge on its own. "But it’s remained relatively similar ever since I started putting some effort in. Constantly learning!" An after photo revealed the dramatic transformation of their lawn, which was completely rid of weeds.

"From weeds to decent? Never had a lawn before. [It's a] big learning curve, but I love it," they said. The novice-turned-expert revealed the plan that made a huge difference.

In the spring, they begin with lawn aeration, followed up with "raking up dead spots and removing things from the ground that will prevent seeds from making contact with the earth below." Once the soil is prepped, topsoil is put down to level out the bare spots, and overseeding is done using a handheld spreader. A starter fertilizer helps their new seeds grow.

"Water typically twice a day until I start seeing some good growth, then reduce the watering. .
