The family doesn't have a phone, and have to head down to the local library if they want to contact someone.
To save cash, their house is practically bare, with just a large table in the living room, and no sofa. Speaking to TlC's Extreme Cheapskates, Vickie said: "I feel so good when I save money. "I kick my self when I could have saved money and I don't".
One of Vickie's more extreme money saving tactics is to make homemade birthday and Christmas gifts from roadkill. The whole family go out hunting for dead animals, and Vickie said that this saves her hundreds. None of the animal gets wasted, and Vickie makes homemade meals using the roadkill meat, if it's still fresh enough.
