Ian McKellen after last night, a theatergoer has revealed. The 85-year-old actor was portraying John Falstaff in a production of Player Kings at the Noel Coward Theatre in when he reportedly lost his footing and fell off stage. Ian was quickly taken to hospital but is reported to be in high spirits and plans to return to the stage on Wednesday for a matinee performance of the play.

Charlie Johnson, an eyewitness, shared the shocking details of the fall with Good Morning Britain, explaining exactly what led to Ian's tumble. He said: "As we approached the interval of the play, there was a fight scene going on and there were strobe light and then it all went dark, at which point you could see the silhouette of Ian come out the wings and the way the stage works at the Noel Coward, there's a step down and where the stage meets the audience. "I think what happened is he took his foot too far off that initial step and lost his balance and went head first into the audience.



Within seconds, a blood curling stream arose from the actor and he was clearly in a lot of pain and screaming 'help me.'". Susanna Reid, who was co-hosting the breakfast show with Ed Balls, sent her best wishes.

She stated: "We wish him the very best and he recovers from the accident. I think it's amazing he's still doing fight scenes on stage at 85. We wish him all the very best.
