After being "horribly" cheated on, former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo decided she'd never date an athlete again. All that changed when she met NRL legend and now husband Christian McCaffrey, who she tied the knot with in a lavish ceremony last month. In her larger-than-life doco-series, The Culpo Sisters , which you can watch for free on 9Now , Olivia admitted her past heartbreaks were "pivotal moments" in her life.

And it all started with one very famous ex-boyfriend, as you can see in the video above. "After I won Miss Universe, I moved to LA with my boyfriend at the time..

My whole identity was in him, which is a very common story for a young person in love. "I thought we were going to get married," she revealed. Living in an apartment she couldn't afford, Olivia remembered thinking, "How am I going to pay my rent? I couldn't even afford my groceries".

Olivia explained what happened next in the video below: "It was a serious pivotal moment for me, but it was something that taught me that you can't give up." In the series, the US model was on a video call to her then boyfriend now husband Chri.
