I Prevail has accomplished a great deal in its first decade of releasing music. Since its 2014 EP “Heart vs. Mind” — memorably preceded by a high-octane cover of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” — the Detroit heavy rock quintet has released three albums, scored a batch of radio hits (“Alone,” “Breaking Down,” “Hurricane,” “Bad Things,” “Deep End”) and been nominated for a pair of Grammy Awards.
This summer, meanwhile, it’s co-headlining a tour with Halestorm, all while hatching plans for the near future. “I joke that every time I say 10 years, I throw my back out,” quips co-frontman Eric Vanlerberghe, who founded I Prevail in 2013 with Brian Burkheiser and guitarist Steve Menoian. “Looking back and thinking about how far we’ve come in 10 years is pretty incredible.
Just the hurdles and hoops we had to jump through to make it this far and all we’ve accomplished, it’s just wild to think about it. “Our fans over these 10 years have been very gracious to let us experiment with our sound, and we feel the confidence of that. I’m really excited for the future and seeing what 10 years will hold.
” The present isn’t bad, either. I Prevail is still promoting 2023’s “True Power” album, and it recorded a joint single, “Can U See Me in the Dark?,” with Halestorm especially for the summer tour. “We’re in the same world, but a little different parts of it,” Vanlerberghe explains.
“This puts Halestorm in front of some fans .
