A FLIGHT attendant has revealed that she got her engagement ring and wedding dress for a bargain price from an unclaimed baggage sale. Stephanie is a self-proclaimed "extreme cheapskate" and goes to great lengths to save cash, for example turning off the electricity when she is not in the house and eating leftover aeroplane food for her dinner. She also uses the covers from airline pillows as coffee strainers, which saves her about £4 a year.
And the savvy saver was no different when it came to her wedding, deciding to buy both her dress and engagement ring from an unclaimed baggage sale. When luggage gets lost during flights, oftentimes it is never claimed. The items inside the unclaimed suitcases are then sold off on the cheap.
Stephanie managed to find an engagement ring for just £156 from the unclaimed luggage sale, far cheaper than it would have been in a regular shop. The bargain hunter also nabbed a tuxedo for her husband for less than £50 and a wedding dress for just £38. To save extra pennies the couple even got married in the unclaimed baggage centre, as two of the staff there happened to be engaged.
Speaking to TLC 's Extreme Cheapskates, Stephanie's husband Jimmy said: "It's not what I envisioned for us, but my baby got what she wanted, so I'm happy." Stephanie added: "It was just a bargain that was too good to pass up on". "For less than $500, we just got married!" Stephanie's bargain hunting has sent social media users into a frenzy.
