Getting married is a big deal, as you're promising the rest of your life to the one person you love and trust more than anyone else. But one man admitted that he and his wife of three weeks both "regretted having a traditional wedding " as they "both wanted to elope" - but because of expectations on them, they ignored their own wishes. "We ended up not eloping due to family pressure, mostly from her parents who made her feel bad being their only daughter and potentially 'denying them the chance to see their daughter get married' and said she'd regret having 'her moment'", he explained .

He said that he reckoned that her parents wanted "their moment", rather than caring about her having hers. He explained that the past year had been full of "unnecessary drama", and it was so "expensive", even though both sets of parents paid for a lot of the nuptials and celebrations. "Overall it was a year of stress, a bunch of drama over things like who should be in the wedding party/invited to the wedding, and all the wedding drama I always heard about", he explained on Reddit's 'Am I The A**hole' forum.



He said that neither of them had "fun" either on the actual day, as they both get "mild social anxiety", which is a "big part" of why they wanted to elope. "It was as bad as we expected it to be", he shared. The disgruntled man continued: "We got back from our honeymoon on Thursday and this weekend we were at her parent's house for Father's Day.
