The 2 Johnnies from Tipperary are to release their debut album, Small Town Heroes on Friday, May 31 RTÉ’s the 2 Johnnies have said one of the reasons for their high-profile 2FM exit is that the station didn’t “share the same ambition” as them. Johnny B O’Brien confirmed it was their busy schedule which stood in the way of them continuing their drivetime show. While speaking to Tipperary Live ahead of their last show show, he said leaving RTÉ is “definitely the right move” as the duo from Tipperary will have more time to focus on their podcast and live shows.
"The lighter workloads may make it a little easier to leave tomorrow," O’Brien said. "We’ll be sad to finish the show because we absolutely love working with our team, they’re brilliant. We’ve loved the listeners, people have been so good ringing in and telling their stories.
