How to get Mythbrine Aethersand in Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV)

As with each Final Fantasy XIV expansion, a new Aethersand, called Mythbrine Aethersand, is extremely valuable when it comes to crafting. Unlike most crafting resources, you can't just go gather Mythbrine Aethrsand from a gathering node. Here is the best way to get Mythbrine Aethersand in Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail.Image by DestructoidHow to get and farm Mythbrine AethersandIn order to get Mythbrine Aethersand in FFXIV, you need to use the Aetherial Reduction Action on one of two items: Cleyran Carp or Longnose Gar. Both of these items are materials obtained via Fishing. The best and fastest option is to acquire Longnose Gar via Spearfishing to then break it down into Mythbrine Aethersand via the Aetherial Reduction action. The bigger the fish, the more Mythbrine Aethersand you can get from each Longnose Gar that you break down.You can fish up Longnose Gar in Lake Toari located in the northeast area of the Shaaloani zone. Head to the Mehwahhetsoan Aether Current in the northeastern part of Shaaloani then head east to the northern part of Lake Toari. Once here, equip your Spearfishing gig, dive under the waters of Lake Toari, and look for Lv 100 Teeming Waters. Interact with the fishing spot and you will open up the Spearfishing UI. Make sure you have popped Collect before interacting with the Teeming Waters, as you will need collectable versions of the Longnose Gar to use Aetherial Reduction on.I recommend popping your Nature's Bounty Action at this point, as it will increase the size of the fish you catch, which may lead to more Mythbrine Aethersand. On the Spearfishing screen, you want to look for the Large Shadow that is swimming fast, as that is the Longnose Gar. Unfortunately, the Large Midnight Carp can sometimes look like the Longnose Gar speed-wise, but you'll get used to the difference after some time.Here are the three spots in Lake Toari where Longnose Gar can be Spearfished to be turned into Mythbrine Aethersand:(X: 32.3 , Y: 9.6) - Lv100 Teeming Waters in Lake Toari in Shaaloani.(X: 33.0, Y: 12.8) - Lv100 Teeming Waters in Lake Toari in Shaaloani.(X: 30.1 , Y: 11.5) - Lv100 Teeming Waters in Lake Toari in Shaaloani.After you've caught some Longnose Gar, simply use Aetherial Reduction on them all for a chance to get Mythbrine Aethersand with each attempt.Purchase via Orange Gatherer's ScripIf you're in a pinch and need some quick Mythbrine Aethersand, you do have other options. As long as you've unlocked Scrip Exchange vendors, you can trade 200 Orange Gatherers' Scrip for a Mythbrine Aethersand. Clearly this isn't a great exchange rate, because 200 Orange Gatherers' Scrip can often be better spent on something more valuable, especially because it can take longer to get enough Scrip for the trade compared to just Spearfishing via the above method.
