In the second episode of House of the Dragon season 2, Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) finally mentions his grandson Daeron Targaryen. The boy is his daughter Alicent Hightower’s (Olivia Cooke) fourth child, but he has so far been missing from the Game of Thrones spin-off series. However, the HBO show has decided to introduce Alicent’s youngest son following his absence from season 1.
Fans will undoubtedly be glad to hear it as, in George R.R. Martin ’s Fire & Blood, he plays a significant role.
Showrunner Ryan Condal also confirmed Daeron’s place in the show before season 2’s release and he is included in HBO’s breakdown of the Targaryen family tree. With nowhere left to turn in King’s Landing, Otto tells his daughter Alicent that he will retur.
