A brand new remake of the iconic The Strangers movie has been released - but cinema-goers have warned others “not to waste their money.” Back in 2008, lovers were left terrified after watching the original low-budget film. Starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman, it followed a couple stopping at a remote holiday home.
Things take a harrowing turn when three masked strangers rock up - asking for Tamara. The trio then embarks on a murderous rampage - terrorising the couple. The Strangers received rave reviews from critics in 2008 and was a box office smash, grossing $82 million from a $9 million budget.
What’s more, in 2018, a sequel was released - The Strangers: Prey At Night. And this year the brand new remake, directed by Renny Harlin, was released to cinema screens. The new film follows the same premise as the original one.
Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez star as a smitten couple who take a wrong turn while travelling across the county. They end up at an AirBnB - and the three strangers quickly arrive. The remake is part of an already-filmed trilogy.
Speaking in May, director Renny Harlin estimated that the second film would be released in “September or October” and then wrap up in “the beginning of next year.” The first film premiered over here in the UK, in May - and it didn’t take long for reviews to come flooding in. But it seems they are not too impressed.
Over on a Reddit thread, one person wrote: “I went in not even seeing the originals. Honestly,.
