Helldivers 2 has been experiencing its first rocky patch since the game first launched in February 2024. Prior to May, the game was almost seen as being unable to do anything wrong as Arrowhead Game Studios were delivering regular new content to keep players engaged. Unfortunately, a series of negative events and updates turned players away from the game and it has been on a decline ever since.
But there is now hope as the seems to be bringing players back to the game. , on June 12th, before the 01.000.
400 update, Helldivers 2 peaked at just 49,125 players on PC, one of the lowest peaks ever seen in the game’s history. However, on June 13th following the most recent update, the PC player count increased by over 86%, peaking at 91,692 players. This also marked the first time that the game’s overall player count had hit over 100,000 concurrent players in a few weeks.
This is great news as Helldivers 2 has been on a slow decline over the past month since the that blocked players in 180 countries from being able to play the game. Coupled with the reactionary nerf updates, this turned many players off and the game has been on a steady decline since. Hopefully, this is the start of the game regaining popularity, which should only further increase once in the Galactic War.
So far, the new update has been met with a positive reception by the comm.
