HELLBOY fans have joked that the first look at the new movie resembles an SNL spoof and is a step down from previous films. Hellboy: The Crooked Man wrapped principal photography on May 15, 2024, and is scheduled to release in theaters later this year. The 2024 reboot features Jack Kesy as the titular Hellboy - based on the Dark Horse Comics character created by Mike Mignola.

The X, formally Twitter, pop culture account Discussing Film shared a movie still of Kesy in the role captioned, "New look at Hellboy in ‘HELLBOY: THE CROOKED MAN" The Deadpool 2 actor was shown airbrushed the muted red color of the demonic investigator and sported a horn and arm prosthetics. In the post's comment section, one fan wrote, "Hellboy looks significantly worse with every reboot." "This looks fan-made," commented another.
