Actor Rafe Spall has admitted his mum and actor dad Timothy Spall insisted their home was haunted by a ghost who stole his mother’s underwear. Spall said his parents believed their office was haunted by a ghost called Darryl who had been killed in the property. The 41-year-old said his dad Timothy, 67, famous for Harry Potter, and his mother Shane both believe in the supernatural and are “extremely superstitious”.
Spall told the Where There’s A Will, There’s A Wake podcast: “I was brought up with a ghost. And as a result I really renounce ghosts now – whenever my kids talk about ghosts I’m very adroit in telling them, ‘Ghosts don’t exist.’ “Because in my childhood, the inverse was true.
Ghosts were real with my mum and dad.” Speaking about the “ghost” that haunted his parents office in his childhood home, Spall, who was born in East Dulwich, London, said a woman had visited the house and told them: “‘This is where it happened, this is where Darryl died’. She said his lips went blue.
“So then, Darryl was real and mum was convinced that Darryl was knicking her bras. Which is ludicrous.” Rafe recently revealed that he and wife Esther Smith are expecting their first child together.
The couple confirmed their romance in November 2022. Rafe and Esther made the announcement on Lorraine when appearing to promote the fourth series of their series Trying. Esther said: "I've got a little bump.
