And one expert says it’s actually furthered the divide between the Sussexes and the rest of the royals as opposed to closing the gap. Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis has reportedly driven the family further apart When Charles was diagnosed with cancer in early 2024, Harry immediately flew to the United Kingdom to visit his father . It was believed that it could be the one unfortunate situation that would finally bring the whole family back together.



Later, after Kate’s diagnosis was revealed in March, people were even more hopeful. But those dreams were eventually shattered as Harry’s one trip to the UK this past spring did not result in a meeting with any royal family members. Now, one expert says things between Harry, Meghan, and the family have only become worse because there is so much less of a focus on healing the royal rift; the diagnoses have been a distraction to potentially mending the broken relationships.
