Grant Sputore has been set to direct the third feature in Legendary’s “Godzilla x Kong” franchise. Sputore is a commercials director who made his feature directing debut on the Hilary Swank-led sci-fi film “I Am Mother”. To date it remains his sole film directing credit.
He also executive produced the outback-set 2020 film “The Furnace,” and produced the upcoming Daisy Ridley film “We Bury the Dead”. Sputore’s hire comes in the wake of the exit of Adam Wingard who directed the prior two films that teamed up the titans. Wingard had hoped to return but he’s gone over to his own A24 film “Onslaught” instead.
“Godzilla vs. Kong” managed to bring in an impressive $470 million worldwide amid the pandemic, and this year’s “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” has grossed more than $567.5 million worldwide.
The script for the next film hails from Dave Callaham (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”). Source:.
