GMB: Nigel Farage rules out being Conservative Party leader Ed Balls sparked a backlash among Good Morning Britain viewers on Tuesday after he and Susanna Reid interviewed Reform UK leader Nigel Farage as he gears up for the UK General Election on Thursday 4 July. The host challenged Farage as he asked: "Lots of different small parties, they never work, the route for you was to become the Conservative MP and leader of the Conservative party. "I don't believe you've given up on that yet, a re-aligned party after the election, do you rule out being the leader of the Conservative party in the next five years?" the I'm A Celebrity star responded: "UKIP was massively successful, name me a more successful party in British politics that is a small group of people who get together, form a political party, fight election after election after election.

"It takes 20 years to make any breakthroughs at all but achieve their goal of Britain leaving the European Union , I think UKIP was immensely successful. Look, I have no interest in this Conservative party, and frankly, the people that control the Conservative central office that run the party apparatus, they're not Conservatives, they're Social Democrats." Reid asked: "So Nigel Farage , you'll never stand for the Conservative party and you'll never lead the Conservative party?" "Not as they currently are," Nigel shot back and Ed chimed in: "Ahhhh, that's very revealing.
