When the girl band announced their return after 11 years off the scene, followers were eager to see them start their first tour in over a decade. But among the throng of doting fans lauding their homage to the late Sarah Harding, one gig attendee at Newcastle's Utilita Arena took it to an extreme by attempting to pull Cheryl off the stage.
In a fraught moment, as Cheryl was interacting with fans in the VIP pit up front, the quick thinking of a security guard prevented her from taking a tumble. The incident didn't go unnoticed, with bystanders promptly posting about it on X (previously known as Twitter ). One posted: "Some bloke tried to yank Cheryl off stage during Girls Aloud in Newcastle tonight.

(sic) Another stunned spectator shared: "Cheryl almost getting grabbed and almost pulled off the stage by an audience member in Newcastle." The girl group, now composed of Cheryl Tweedy, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh, have been touring the UK - a mere 21 years since they won Popstars: The Rivals.
