More info While most plants thrive in sunny conditions, it's crucial to give them extra care during warm weather. Dani Turner, customer experience director at online florist Bunches, advises watering plants in the morning and avoiding evening watering. The expert stated: "The best time to water the plants in the garden is early in the morning.

" She explained that a thorough drenching before the day heats up allows the water to reach the roots through the soil, preventing water loss due to evaporation. "For your indoor plants, we always recommend to underwater rather than overwater, as too much water can lead to root rot, amongst other issues," reports the Express . She added: "For a happy houseplant, as a general rule, a weekly watering will provide all the moisture it requires.

" Watering houseplants in the morning is also vital to prevent them from burning if they are exposed to direct sunlight. A simple way to determine if a plant needs watering during a heatwave is to insert your finger about an inch into the soil. If it feels dry, the plant probably needs watering.

It's better to water plants in the morning rather than in the evening to avoid attracting pests like slugs or disea.
