Adilabad former MP Ramesh Rathod passed away after developing health problems at his residence in Utnoor in the district on Saturday. Minutes after Rathod developed health problems, his family members first rushed him to a private hospital in the district. As Rathod’s condition deteriorated, they shifted him to a corporate hospital in Hyderabad but declared him dead on arrival.

Rathod contested from Kanapur Assembly constituency on BJP ticket during Assembly elections in November 2023 but stood in the third place after registering as many as 52,398 votes. He also planned to contest Lok Sabha elections from Adilabad in May 2024 but the party denied a ticket to him. Following the death of Rathod, Union Coal Minister and Telangana BJP State president G Kishan Reddy condoled the death and recalled the former’s services rendered while serving as an MP and MLA.



Rathod was elected as an MP from TDP in 2009 during united Andhra Pradesh. In 1999, he served as an MLA from Khanapur. He joined BJP in 2021.
