A survey of 2,000 adults revealed that a whopping 39% are stuck in a rut of looking for excuses not to do things, rather than reasons to go for it. And it seems this cautious approach is causing them to miss out, with over half (51%) feeling they've lost out on potentially great experiences. Despite their hesitancy, nearly half (49%) are keen to shake off this negativity and seize chances they might have previously shied away from.

In a bid to become more affirmative, 21% are committed to saying 'yes' more often, while 24% have been spurred on by newfound confidence (48%), support from loved ones (42%), and even the influence of social media (17%). The study was carried out by Seedlip as part of their 'Drink Interesting' campaign, which encourages people to lead lives full of memorable adventures. Lucy Barrett, representing the alcohol-free brand, commented that they're all about getting people to "encourage others to say yes more", to "have more fun and feel more empowered.

" The findings also showed that 41% have rued missed opportunities, including turning down a night out (33%), a date (26%), or a job offer (25%). Moreover, a fifth (21%) look on with envy at those who embrace every opportunity that comes knocking. However, 46% of people said they would be more likely to take risks if they felt they were living life to the full, while 18% said greater acceptance of uniqueness would help, and 10% said encouragement via social media would make a difference.

Seeing others live.
