EasyJet is set to launch a brand new island route from a UK airport. Liverpool John Lennon Airport Aviation Director Paul Winfield said: “With just 9% of all flights to Malta from the north-west currently served from Liverpool, this route has significant opportunity to grow from here.” JLA, recently named 'UK's best airport' by Which, has experienced a surge in passenger numbers over the past year. 2million passengers flew out of JLA last year, and the airport is set to return to pre-Covid levels by the end of the year. Easyjet recently confirmed it suffered an £80million hit from the conflict in Gaza and growing tension across the Middle East. The low-budget airline axed flights to Israel and Jordan following the Hamas terror attack on October 7.
