EastEnders fans have voted for the ‘best ever villain’ on the soap. The long-running soap has seen a slew of baddies make their mark in Walford. Right from the very first episode in February 1985, the show has been rife with scandal, crime and murder.
And love them or hate them, these disturbing and downright nasty villains have helped create some iconic storylines over the years - whether that’s Janine Butcher pushing her hubby off of a cliff, or Gray Atkins murdering his girlfriend. But now, fans have revealed their favourite villain. On an EastEnders Facebook fan page, one person said: “Who is the best Eastenders villain dead or alive?” Fans were quick to share their thoughts, with one character in particular a popular with social media users: Nick Cotton.
The Albert Square bad boy (John Altman) was involved in a number of grisly storylines during his time on the soap including killing Eddie Royle, drug addiction, causing the death of his son Ashley and several murder attempts on his own mother, Dot. On the Facebook page, one person said: “Nasty Nick - great actor.” Someone else added: “Yup I’m gonna have to say Nick too.
There was nothing redeeming about him!” A third chimed in: “Nick is the original but I think Janine is the best. The villain I hate the most though is Archie, he made my skin crawl.” Another agreed: “Male Nick Cotton.
Female Janine butcher.” Other fans of the long-running BBC One soap were quick to crown Janine Butcher as the b.
