Activision Blizzard is skipping its usuaL Diablo 4 mid-season update campfire and instead using that time to delve into the Season 5 PTR, which means we get the patch early. Diablo 4 is finding its feet after a disappointing first couple of season. The Season 4 patch notes introduced a slew of sizeable changes, with the introduction of masterworking and tempering, and reams of itemization updates in the appropriately-named Loot Reborn Season 4 update.
And given that the season was actually delayed by one month, we're not mad that the Diablo 4 mid-season update is dropping early. The reason for the updated schedule is actually the Season 5 PTR. In a blog post on the Blizzard website , the devs explain that the reason we're getting the Diablo 4 mid-season update earlier than planned is to avoid "any type of whiplash for players as they go from finishing the PTR back to Season 4" and that "releasing the mid-season update prior to the PTR would be better for all players" The update was originally going to drop after the Season 5 PTR wrapped up, but I guess the slated content of what are usually significant changes to class balancing and other aspects of the game are so meaningful that reverting back to the dowdy old pre-mid-season update state of the game would be too much to bear.
The game's PTR is for PC players to test out upcoming changes, so oftentimes they'll be getting to grips with new mechanics and any other tweaks before everyone else. With the Diablo 4 mid-season updat.
