Nick Mavar from Discovery Channel 's Deadliest Catch has died at 59 after a medical emergency sent him to the hospital on June 13. The Bristol Bay Borough, Alaska Police Department's Chief reported to TMZ that the Discovery Channel alum died Thursday afternoon in Naknek after experiencing a medical emergency which was not named. The police refused to disclose any further information on the cause of his emergency as it's too early in the investigation to assume conclusions.

Mavar appeared on the hit show from 2005 to 2021. He served as a deckhand on the show, responsible for maintaining the Northwestern and all of its mechanical equipment.
He left the show in December 2020 due to a health scare involving his appendix, which fans got a sneak peak of during his finale on the show. The fisherman later claimed that his appendix had ruptured due to lack of care for the situation, and ended up suing Captain Sig Hansen for not providing him with the proper care needed during the pandemic after finding out there was also a tumor on his appendix.
