Coronation Street: Evelyn and Cassie It looks as though there could be trouble on the way for Coronation Street’s Ken Barlow (played by Bill Roache). This month, ITV viewers saw the long-standing resident take a nasty fall which resulted in him needing a carer for his injuries. With a professional carer being too expensive for the Barlow family, Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) overheard their predicament and offered to help out.
Although she admitted to not having any qualifications, Cassie told Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) that she cared for an ex-boyfriend once. Despite some hesitation, Steve agreed and decided to keep quiet to Ken about the lack of qualifications Cassie possessed. However, the secret was soon out of the bag when she arrived for her first shift.
Rummaging through Ken’s belongings to try and find his medication, he was unimpressed with her professionalism as she revealed not coming from a caring agency. Deciding to let her go, furious at the lies that had been told, Steve confessed he hired her due to the money woes. On Wednesday night, viewers saw Cassie return to the home to get her keys, which resulted in her having a heart-to-heart with Ken.
It was clear their conversation had changed his mind as later on Steve walked in to witness them laughing together while playing a game.
