The people of Isale-Ako Community in Inisa, a town in Odo-Otin Local Government Area Osun State, have announced the dates for the events held by the community for this year. According to community elders, the annual presentation of families for revered traditional rites will begin on July 20 this year and run through July 23. Also, August 23 has been selected for Oje Day 2024, which will take place at the traditional family compound in Isale-Ako in Inisa.
A statement by Chief Ojende Okunlola, the community head, states that the traditional rites will be performed between 9:00am and 5:00pm daily for the three days. According to him, the families expected at the ceremony of rites include Dr. Oluwole Akeem Babatunde, Mr.
Ojewale Ogunbola Mr. Okunlola Olusegun Emmanuel, Mr. Ojedipe Ogunwale Olufemi, Mr.
Ojende Oluwabunmi and Chief Alhaji Ojedale Okunola. All families are enjoined to respect tradition and be present with their children. “It has become necessary to issue a warning to some descendants who seem to abhor tradition to show respect for and interest in the ways of our fathers.
This is because some families are still being awaited to present themselves and their children for the rites that have been part of our customs for centuries. This is especially imperative for those chosen to be Omo-Oje. We are calling on Mr Okunlola Olusegun Emmanuel who has shunned the tradition since 2015 having been designated for the rites with his daughter,” he submitted.
