It looks like The Simpsons have 'predicted' yet another historical event - and it appears Channel 4 had to step in this time. After was nearly assassinated at a rally yesterday, people have already questioned the possible psychic powers of the writers of Matt Groening's cartoon show. Although an animated image in The Simpsons style has already been , it now looks like Channel 4 had to pull a particular episode from today's schedule supposedly due to it mirroring the dramatic events that occurred in Pennsylvania, US.

Eagled-eyed X, or Twitter, user @ropestoinfinity spotted that there had been a sudden change to Channel 4's TV schedule this afternoon. The avid TV fan wrote: "Wondered at first why Channel 4 just pulled the scheduled broadcast of 'Lisa The Iconoclast', but I think I get [it]." They attached a still from season 7, episode 16 titled 'Lisa The Iconoclast' which depicts a sniper-armed man on a roof pointing his gun towards a stage where schoolgirl character Lisa was giving a speech.



It struck an uncanny resemblance to the events that unfolded in the US where Donald Trump was giving a speech before a roof-top gunman fired shots at the former president, hitting him in the ear. But, it looks like that's not the only striking similarity that social media users have picked up on and, presumably, Channel 4 did too hence the schedule change. The episode description reads: "Lisa finds out that Springfield's founder was a murderous pirate who tried to assassinate George Washi.
