BROOKSIDE was once one the nation’s best-loved soaps, and kickstarted the careers of some very big names on British TV. First airing in November 1982, the Channel 4 soap was set in Liverpool and filmed on an actual close built especially for the show. The show was axed in 2003 due to the decline in viewing figures.

The hit soap had some iconic story lines before it came to an end. But fans of the legendary soap still love hearing what the Brookie cast are up to. That's why they were thrilled when Brookside legend Alex Fletcher - who played Jacqui Dean on the soap - shared pictures of a mini-reunion with other cast members.



The actress attended the birthday party of Vince Earl, who played Ron Dixon, and was joined by some much loved stars. In a slew of Instagram pics Alex can be seen smiling alongside Stephanie Chambers (Gabby Parr), Tiffany Chapman (Rachel Jordache), Gabrielle Glaister (Patricia Farnham) and Paul Byatt (Mike Dixon). Writing next to the pictures she said: "Happy 80TH Birthday Vince my heart is full celebrating with you & your lovely family & of course the Brookie family too.

" Alex added: "I Love you Vince the best on screen dad anyone could have ever asked for. "Where have the years gone !!! #Brookie Reunion #Ron Dixon #The Dixons." Meanwhile, last year Brookside sadly lost one of its iconic cast members .

Dean Sullivan, who played Jimmy Corkhill in the popular soap between 1986 and 2003, passed away in November aged 68 peacefully in his sleep following a sh.
