After a near 20-year break from performing in Jamaica, Carl Meeks is preparing for an even bigger return to his homeland. The veteran singer is scheduled to perform on one of the year's most anticipated shows. "Yeah, in mid-August, I will be doing A St Mary Mi Come From, suh wi looking forward to dat," he said.

Founded and promoted by veteran reggae-dancehall artiste Capleton, A St Mary Mi Come From is held in the artiste's home parish. It features top acts and generally attracts large audiences. Meeks, known for songs like Youthman and Weh Dem Fah , is based in North Carolina.

In April, he performed on the popular Dancehall Thursday show and at Pon Top Seafood Grill & Bar, both in Kingston. "It was overwhelming! I picked up right where I left off, my people remember and love my songs wherever I perform," said Meeks. The dreadlocked vocalist has enjoyed a mini revival in recent months, since the release of Redman International: We Run Things , a retrospective album featuring songs produced by Hugh 'Redman' James.

Released by VP Records, it contains four songs. Meeks and James began collaborating shortly after the former placed second in the 1985 Tastee Talent Contest..
