A fan-favourite star of Call the Midwife has revealed whether she will be back in the show for the latest series following her exit in series 13. Helen George has appeared on the BBC show as Nurse Trixie Franklin since it first started in 2012 when it was originally based on the books by Jennifer Worth and her time as a midwife in the East End of London during the 1950s. Since then, Call the Midwife has grabbed a worldwide audience with annual Christmas specials and series 14 currently being filmed.

However, many fans were concerned about the future of George’s time on the BBC show following her sudden exit at the end of series 13. Trixie, left Poplar in the final episode of the previous series to join her husband Matthew, played by Olly Rix , who moved to New York in America after the businessman struggled to support his family in the UK financially. A post shared by Helen George (@helenrgeorge) Hoping to help his family, advised by his friend Chester, Matthew brought two warehouses in New York as the property market in the American city seemed to be on the rise.

At the time the decision put a lot of stress on Trixie as she struggled to sleep while her husband was away and was forced to take some sleeping pills to help ease her worries. In the final episode, Trixie rang Matthew confirming that she would be heading out to the Big Apple to see her husband. George’s future was concerned after Rix, who played her onscreen husband, was axed from the show during series 13.
